No tanning beds aren't safe and neither is the sun. Both produce harmful UVA & UVB rays that do damage to your skin over time. So do a sunless spray tan instead at a salon, they can choose a shade right for you. And always use a sunscreen when you go outside with at least SPF 15 even on cloudy days because the rays are still getting through.

People who spend a lot of time in the sun (or a lot of time on a tanning bed) live with a higher possibility of contracting malignant melanoma.

Well if you talked to my friend who is going through chemo because of time spent in the sun he would tell you no. The melanoma spread from his hand to his arm and then to the lymph nodes which had to be removed. He is now on chemo. I suggest using the fake tans that are sprayed on. Safer and you won't look 60 when you are 35.

I have been around tanning beds for years, my sister owns several tanning salons and tanning supply business. I had one in my home for years. I sold it. I laid in the sun year after year. I put sunscreen on everyday and I never lay in the sun. I never get in the tanning bed. It will take a toll on your health. I know from personal experience. My sister has bad health problems now. Please stay out of them. Peace.

Actually tanning beds aren't safe... mainly because of the amount of bacteria that you are laying in while getting sunlight.
You can get some gnarly infections of the skin, even though they supposedly "clean" the beds each time.

No any type of UV exposure increases the risk of skin cancer. It maybe worth getting a tan. You make the choice. However first I would try to find a dermatologist with a suntan. You won't find one because they have seen how horrible melanoma (skin cancer) can be.

There are studies out there that indicate that tanning beds are more dangerous than the sun.

Yes, and the real sun will give them skin cancer and wrinkly skin too.
Is a tan really worth cancer? If it is, go for it.
