I think you have made this version up. I have checked two versios of the christian bible tranlations and neither have these words in them.KJV,the New Jerusalem bible.
KJV speaks of the Gentiles that take the word of the christ into themselves and will be bound by the teachings of CHRIST.
But now where in either version does it say anything about Pagans.
What you describe sounds like what the cathaloic chuch has been saying about them. Even though the church took most of its rites and rituals for the Pagans to try and lure them into converting to Christinany and stil use them. a dismal failure as most startied practicing dual religions . And no they are not going against the creators laws. just practising their own idea of the nature of creation.

I just now finished answering a question that said "Why does God allow all this evil?" Verse 5 says that god will "judge the living and the dead". That means that God does not permit evil to happen. He will hold everyone accountable for the evil that they had done. But God does not want to do this, and he has done everything in his power to prevent people from going to Hell, by even giving his own Son. I'm thinking that the reason why Hell is so terrible is beause of rejecting God's gift and great sacrifice to proove that he is not evil, but people go on saying he's evil. That's blasphemy and is a great evil, by saying these things people are in league with Satan wheter they believe in Satan or not has no relevance. Woe to those people!

Sounds like it's desribing most of the people answering your question here at Yahoo. I'll be a lot of them are living in debauchery, lust, druneness and iolatry!
Most of these people do it until it's their girlfriend, boyfriend or spouse that catches them.
Just like those who, WHEN they find out it's all real, will smile and say to "God" It was a joke. I was just kidding! Can't you take a joke!

Ken,
It is something that Peter probably remembered from his days with Jesus. Also something that every Christian should keep in mind for themselves. Especially when pointing fingers in other directions. Especially when denying the Lord. Really, when you think that you've arrived and haven't sinned yourself on any given day.
Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of Faith. Live your convictions, preach Christ.

Looks like Peter is counseling the faithful about their past lives, and that they can expect to be insulted and persecuted for leaving all of that and following Jesus. He is also telling them to not have any fear, because the day of judgement will come, and Jesus will make all final judgements of the living and the dead on that day.

When you are saved your life changes and you no longer live in sin.And because of that those who don`t believe try to torment you and mock you etc....But God will judge them according to their works ,both the living and the dead. There will be some who on judgement day will not have died because of his coming. Those who didn`t serve him then will be judged and cast into the pit of fire.

In a nutshell: People speak evil of Christians, because we don't follow the same empty pursuits as the world.

I think God is
1. trying to make you feel better though your old life mocks you and torments you over the decision you have made to follow him.
2. He is saying don't worry about it, their day will come and they won't be laughing and tormenting anymore.
Good passage. Choosing Christ is not easy and your old running buddies won't like it, but you have to make that choice to be free.

I think, in my own words, that it is saying:
"You used to do what everyone else is doing... you used to sin in all those same ways. So now those people you used to call your friends are down on you because you won't join them in their sinning any more, and they're putting you down. But, they will come into judgment for this."
