A parkway is a general designation of a type of limited-access highway in some parts of the U.S. and Canada.
A driveway is a type of private road for local access to one or a small group of structures, and is owned and maintained by an individual or group.
I know, that does not answer the origin of the names, which is probably your question. However, i could not find any answer.

Not to sound cocky but where I live the parkway is the strip of grass and trees between the driveway and the street or road.I guess I'm not very smart but it is a good question.
