The reason I ask is that I am not looking for that "someone",don't do the internet dating thing. I would just like to find out if there is someone my own age to discuss some things with. I have been divorced 13 years, had a wonderful, lucritive job until I became disabled a couple of years ago. I have no desire to start dating, refuse all offers and am just trying to figure myself out. I am told I am a very attractive women, that I don't come close to looking my age blah blah, but I guess I am afraid as I walk with a cane etc. That is part of the reason I was wondering if this is the appropriate site to just vent.

Don't you have friends? You can always find a person to relate to be it male or female. Join some clubs or get involved in community acctivities. You can meet alot of interesting people that way. Go to church.

You have taken your first big step. Just because you are alone doesn't mean you are lonely. Find people with common interest and just procede.

So you walk with a can. That's who you are. The lady with the cane. If you are looking for companionship then the people you should put your interest in are those that don't look at you like a woman with a can, just a woman.

You sound scared. Take simple steps and grow gradually. No person grows up overnight.

Love, peace and hair grease!!!!

Well, can I suggest that you don't enter any footraces? Life is to short to beat yourself up. I have HCV (HepC) and who knows how long I'll be around. I have a wife who is supportive, 2 grown children that I'm close with, and 2 young children that my wife & I are raising. I have many friends but prefer not to go out much.
I have several friends who are recovering alcoholics or druggies, and they limit their going out also. They participate in activities they enjoy, and they sometimes go with others of the opposite sex without considering it a date. Just to enjoy the company.
Many of these people have been to AA meetings together, and there aren't a lot of secrets between them. I guess my point is that if others can accept them as they are, blemishes and all, there's no reason you can't find some activities you enjoy. If you are meant to find a lover, you will. If not, you can still make some good friends.

Walking with a cane doesnt matter. You need to go on a date even if it is just with a friend so you can have some fun in your life.
