I try to do that for the rest of the fam. Am I the only one who has this? Thanks for your input!

No, I think most people I have known pick out their B-day and Christmas gifts, but they don't wrap them. That's kind of funny.

I think its good that you get to pick out the "important" gifts from immediate family, but there should be some minor gifts that people pick out for you and you don't know what they are. Another way is to put a list of 20 things, and have them pick a few out, so you don't know which ones you will get, but they will be something you want.

I married into this type of family, not exactly the same but pretty close. My Inlaws will ask my husband what he wants for Xmas or his birthday. And they'll get exactly what he asks for. Even though they wrap it there is really no surprise. In my family it was always a surprise and we where raised to appreciate what we got even if it wasn't what we would have chosen on our own. Anyways I would share this with your husband and family. If you have never talked about it they may be clueless that you feel this way. I'm sure they desire to make you happy and do something nice for you if given the chance.

You're not the only one; I've been shopping for my own gifts for years...my family has no idea what I like and they hate shopping, so I buy them and wrap them up and they give me the money. They also give me the money to buy gifts for everybody else. Somehow, they manage to give me a couple of little surprise gifts too. ☺ It's not very traditional, but it's efficient.

My husband is lazy . He tells me to go buy something I like under the pretense that he doesnt want to get something I dont like. Zero effort on his part, but I guess better than nothing.

No you aren't alone. Me too, nobody remembers my birthday. Just have fun, bring yourself out. Or you can remind them before your day!
