Oh Yes! That happens all the time. Tell your friend to not take it personally. Directors yell at everybody all the time. Tell her to write any block and all details at once, and, if the director changes any movement, your friend needs to make changes in her notes immediately.
This happens in Theater in opera, ballet, Broadway... is something normal. Directors scream at you and then 2 minutes later they talk to you normally.
This is part to be a performer.

It depends on several factors--the director, whether the director has also written the show or not, how close to the performance dates they are, and on how many times a particular mistake has been made. No matter what type of production it is--be it musical theatre, non-musical theatre, television or film, the production company is on a schedule and a budget, and any reviews the show gets are going to be based on the first few performances. So any director would naturally want to make sure he gets the best performance out of his actors that he can, given whatever production-related, budgetary or time constraints he might be facing.

Yes, it is pretty common. Sometimes they yell at musicians too! In high school, I was the concert mistress for the orchestra when the school put on "Oliver." There is a violin solo and I was having trouble with it. Instead of giving me a chance to work on it with my private teacher, the band director played it on the oboe. I took it personally too and my teacher was mad, but after some time, I got over it since I would probably have gotten too nervous to play it correctly anyway.

Oh God yes.
My best friend had the lead in our play last year and our director made her cry in front of twenty college students at a workshop. It's all part of the theatre experience. Directors get stressed, actors get stressed, and tensions are high.

Absolutely! And it's nothing personal. A director has to be like a drill sergeant.

Typical. Happens even to the best actors and actresses. Its nothing personal. They just want you to do your best because they know you have talent and you are not showing it. Tell her to not take it personally, in this business, you can't.
