Yes, get another opinion and don't disclose the previous diagnosis. See what the new doctors come up with.
That seems like a lot of stuff to be wrong with one person. Maybe their right ,maybe their wrong. What do you think, independent of
the doctors.
Good luck.

I'd go with schizoaffective disorder. That actually means having characteristics of both bipolar and schizophrenia. My husband had all the symptoms of both for years and got diagnosed same as you.Its really hard to put a label on it sometimes.A good Doctor will tell you sometimes it is better to treat the symptoms and forget about labeling it.My guy takes clozaril, lythium and wellbutrin. He has been totally stable for 7 years.Don't give up on finding help.Keep searching for the doctor who you are comfortable with. That is half the battle.Find one who will listen to your opinions,fears,questions,etc....Good luck

A psychiatric diagnoses like an anus, everybody has one. Psychiatrists are fine for prescribing medications but that about all. Also remember that payment rates for these "professionals" are sometimes based upon the diagnosis. In New Jersey where I worked for a number of years the major insurance companies paid more for schizophrenia than they did for OCD for example.

Psychiatrists and psychologists diagnose based upon a checklist of things, and many symptoms of different mental illnesses are the same. The only way to really find out is to go on and off medications that target that specific mental illness. Once you've balanced out, you've now found your illness. Good luck. I know it can be super frustrating.

have you considered seeing a neuro-psychiatrist? they seem to be good at flushing out the neurological and psychiatritic causes People I know say that the diagnosis is ususally a better one and the treatments work better.
