It depends on the size of the jet of course. An Airbus A320-200 averages around 700 gal./hr. An Airbus A340 on the other hand will use twice that, 1,400 gal./hr.

Commercial aircraft can carry a LOT of fuel. A Boeing 737-700 can carry 46,188 pounds of fuel.
