I've been struggling with a medical problem since December 2004, shortly after I had food poisoning from undercooked chicken. Symptoms are eye redness, dark circles under eyes, energy loss, pain in the back of my head, and ear popping and pain. I've seen mostly eye and ENT doctors and I've taken a number of anti-allergy things, but the only things which have been effective in improvement have been Augmentin (875MG) and TobraDex. Do I have an infection that an internal med doc can take care of with another type of antibiotic?

It is really hard to answer this without being able to examine you. It does seem to me that if the most improvement was noted when you were on an antibiotic, that maybe this is the answer. It is possible that you were not kept on the medication long enough or on the right drug for the infection. I would definitely see your doc again and be sure to tell him what you've said here.....

are you sure you don't have hepatitis c? or B?

the doctor will have to test your body for antibodies.

most docs check the blood with standard blood labs.

hepatitis c for instance sometimes does not show elevations in the two comounds ALT and AST's. HCV can make your alt and ast levels appear normal, but you can still have hcv.

your white cell counts or red counts elevated?

I would seek a doc and tell him to do his job and test you for infections that are known to cause a normal blood lab such as HCV.

antibiotics wont work on hcv. you have to seek antiviral chemotherapy medications.(if you have hcv).

your symptoms indicate something going on with the liver or even kidneys....get tested for HCV...hcv is not just a liver disease, it infects every part of the body, it only needs the liver to replicate (and causes cirrhosis-cancer ect)

good luck and keep in touch!

Sounds like you just need to cleanse the body on liquids for a day or so then go light on the meals.

Food poisoning does not do that. I doubt you have an infection.
