Some people have claimed to have seen the afterlife and verify concepts like reincarnation. Others see a hellish reality. And yet some see nothing at all. If you are a Christian, Atheist, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, etc, do you think this will influence how they experience the afterlife?

I am not sure if your religious label will play a part in how you experience heaven. I think the different experiences from person to person will be based upon how you behaved on earth and made others feel, whether you realized that you made an impact or not. You will get back what you put in. I like the idea of everyone being in the same place and seeing (hearing, tasting, etc.) the same things - an equal environment for all where religious labels are a thing of the past - but we each see it differently based upon what we made of our spiritual lives on Earth.

I'm not too worried about the specifics of Heaven. I'd just be happy to get there and live in peace with everyone. However, it's worth discussing since it seems that the concepts of the afterlife and who gets to go to Heaven and who will go to Hell affect how we treat each other in this life.

I believe the afterlife IS what you make it. You have to earn you place by the deeds you do and the thoughts you think.
Live a poor, spiteful life and you will not go to such a good place as the man who was loving and kind.
This is down to the law of like attracts like; it would be wrong for a kind man to be put in the same place as a murderer, for the murderer would impede the others spiritual progress.
You will go to a place of like minded souls, so think on what is in your heart, be the best you can.

I have heard tales of many thousands of souls fast asleep over on the other side, awaiting judgement day, as is their right to do so under the rule of free will.

My judgement day will be when I pass over, review my life, together with my guides and teachers, then judge my own performance over whether I met my prescribed targets and objectives while down on Earth.

The point is constant spiritual development, moving up a level at a time, or back down again if we fail, until we can become high enough to be one with God.

So yes your state of mind at the time of death is important.

I believe so. You get feed-back of your own stuff. Matthew 24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away." I would like to add a side NOTE:
In Matthew 8:22, why is it that Jesus states living people dead? The answer is, After you die physically, you are still alive. Dead is the lost.
Matthew 8:22 But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."

Toby H is right... there is one truth one absolute... BUT that absolute truth is that when you die... you just die. That's it! There is no afterlife to go to. Toby H said, "I believe heaven will be somewhat like earth... Why would God make us grow up on earth to have something completely different when we die?" My question is if you're going to heaven when you die, why would God make us grow up on earth at all? Seems like God is complicating the process with an extra unnecessary step. The afterlife exist only here and now in the minds of the delusional.

As the brain begins to shut down because of a lack of oxygen, hellucinations are not uncommon. The Bible clearly says that the dead are conscious of nothing at all. Obviously, clinically dead is not God's idea of dead.

God tells us that we have absolutely no idea of what's coming up... I liken it to a baby inside the womb has no idea of life outside...
