That might help, but -- try to move and at least shift your weight to the rhythm of the music. Relax and let the rhythm dictate your moves and weight changes. Remember - small steps mean small mistakes-! However, as a former Dance Teacher, I would urge you to at least try and learn a few basic Dance Steps. A Waltz rhythm, for example, is a (simple) one-two-thre, one-two-three. Just try weight changes, and then you can extend your steps a bit as you relax and feel more comfortable. Like with most things - the more that you practice, the easier it should become for you-!

Shoulder lean is nice.
Bend slightly at the knee, put the inside of your leg to inside of mine, between my legs, and you will feel every movement you need to know.
Otherwise, take a couple of dance lessons. Or just ask a friend. It's fun to learn something new.

no. don't shoulder lean,,, best way to learn is put your hands on your partners hips,, either close your eyes and feel their movements and follow or watch and follow... if you have any rhythm you won't have any problems learning how to dance from their moves,, but make sure their moves are moves good enough to follow and learn

no, even if you don't know how to dance, move your feet in time with the music, even if just side to side, in sync with your partner. If you relax and let your partner lead, he can push you all over the dance floor and you will look wonderful - if you fight his lead, it will be apparent and look like you can't decide who will lead.
