I have never heard of it happening to any person. You may have a problem with your ears that causes this so see a doctor and have them checked. I have flown a lot all round the world and only when I have a cold is when I have a problem. Airplanes are pressurized so the pressure is supposed to be the same as if you were at 8000 feet above sea level. Many mountains are higher than that. It may be a good idea to have your ears checked if you have problems changing altitudes on the ground.

No, but you could develop a hole or tear. Hold your nose and swallow to pop your ears. That will equalize the pressure on both sides of the eardrum and prevent any pain or damage. It is normal to pop your ears as this is just a response to the change in air pressure.
Hope this helps from an airborne trooper.

They can hemorrhage into the eardrum. Normally, it is a rupture out that cuases the trouble.

You should be just fine so long as the cabin remains properly pressurized.
