Just reassure them that everything is fine, talk to them about what is really going on and that all people get sick, their Friends, teachers etc. Do this again when you are well, remind them how sick you were and how now you are all better! This all with the assumption that the fear they have is not real..?

first of all what kind of illness does the mother have. Does she just have a cold or is it serious. you never want to lie to a child and tell them that she won't die if there is a possiblity.
How old are the children. that matters too. need more info for this question

If ur just not feeling well...explain it to them that it's just like when they are sick. If there is more to it...like dying is a possibility...depending on age u should try to explain as gently as possible. And spend each day together like it was the last.

well she should tell her children that everything will be fine and that mommy is not feeling good right now and that she gets sick sometimes just like her kids and that she should be better soon...
Just tell them your fine unless your not...never lie to your kids.....and tell your kids that they shouldnt cry because theres nothing to worry about because your fine!!!!

She should try to calm everybody down, maybe have a cuddle on the couch. then she should call a friend, neighbor or family to please come help out. Sometimes that is the hardest call in the world to make, but it will make everybody feel more safe and secure.

Tell them you're sick like they get sick, and mommy takes care of them. Give them the idea that they are your "nurses" and give them the idea they are helping you to feel better.

Gives kids the idea they are "controlling" what is scaring them, which makes them feel better.

Teaches them compassion as well!
