SOME woman say this because she doesn't want to hurt your feelings... doesn't want you to feel rejected... a nice way to say she's not really interested.
However, SOME woman may like you and DO want to be friends, but decided you aren't really what they were looking for in a boyfriend... or the "chemistry" just wasn't there... or maybe you were just boring or obnoxious, and she didn't want to hurt your feelings.
If a woman tells you this, I would recommend waiting a little while, say a couple weeks, then try calling her again, ONE time (don't be a pest). For now, don't ask her on a date, maybe just lunch... something casual... or just talk on the phone... IF she answers your call.
If not, then I'd take the hint and move on. If she changes her mind later, maybe she'll get in touch with you. But, maybe by then, you'll already have another girl & it'll be her loss. At least you tried.
Good luck!

Sounds like she is still hopeful of you, and the relationship.
Something may have went wrong between the two of you, so that she needs time and space to think about it. However, she does not wish to loose you. Thus, she wants to be friends at the moment. Since she said that she would like to get together at some point, definitely she mean it. the issue is, when and where is the "point".
My suggestion is to send her a message that expresses your feelings, and tell her that you will be there for her. Leave her alone for sometime. She will call you when she is "ready". If she is avoiding your calls, you should stop before she gets pissed.

She probably is trying to let you down easy. I know a lot of people seem to think it is funny to dump someone, but I never thought it was. If the person is genuinely nice, your goal is not to hurt them.... It is better to just be honest & end the relationship face to face, with kindness. But, when a person gets cold feet & chicken... sometimes they just don't answer the calls.
For the being friends thing- I think you have to wait a while first. Wait for the feelings to calm down, then see if you two can truly still be friends.

You're on the right track. This happens to most guys, where the girl never picks up the guys' phone calls. It's basically saying, "Yeaah, I'm sorry but I don't have the courage to tell you that I don't want to see you."
But prove this wrong! Yeah, build up your confidence and call her. Maybe she's testing you to see if you're interested. No matter what you do, she should appreciate that you're trying to reach out to her. If she keeps ignoring you, she's retarded or on crack or whatever. Move on, find another girl who would be the one calling YOU.
Sorry about how us girls are really hmm, fickle sometimes.
Good luck with this!

How should I know, I've never been dumped...
If you break up with a girl, or rather, she breaks up with you, let it end there. Don't agree to be friends with her while you still have feelings for her, unless you like emotional pain and frustration of course...
If it's mutual and you have no feelings for her, then by all means befriend her, at least then you won't feel like a rusty knife is being twisted through your heart everytime she even mentions another man romantically

Yes sometimes. She could also be letting you down easy. Try asking her out as friends three times. If the answer is still no, then sorry mate she did not mean it or if she did, it will be her time to ask you out.

If I didn't want to see a man I would tell him straight out, I wouldn't play game.....such as not answering the phone or saying I'm busy but some women do that. It's really rude and uncalled for.....childish games.

hmmm... sometimes girls are genuine and thoughtful and they do mean what they say. sometimes they just don't want anything else to do with you and just being nice by saying that just to get you off their backs. i think you shouldn't try asking her, i mean there's nothing to lose anyway rite? If she agrees then she really meant wad she said but if she keeps blowing you off, buddy, take that hint!
