Us a reward system For every time he puts up the seat, give him something small that he wants. After 10-15 times, reward him with a toy or trip to somewhere

I think that is just something you are going to have to show him over and over again, my boys, well, my 4 year old don't put up the seat any more, he use to, untill the seat came down on him one time hurting his............... good luck

When I figure out how to get my son to put it up all the way and back down I'll let you know...what's worse is my hubby doesn't out the seat down either!

Go in with him every single time, reminding him until one day he just does it before you even have a chance to remind him. Then you can quit going into the bathroom with him.

just keep telling hym when boys go pee they lift the seat and when he does congratulate hym and tell him he did a good job always have encouragement no matter the situation

Tape a little toy or trinket to the underside of the toilet so that he would have to lift the lid up in order to see and receive his "reward".

Make him clean it up if it comes onto the sides. Don't be soft and let him go. If he complaines, use time outs. (they use methods like this in Supernanny)

Make him clean up the mess every time. I make my boys clean up when they lapse, it only takes once.
