The bible nowhere teaches that just by believing in Jesus Christ as Lord is give absolute assurance of salvation.
Philippians 2:12 "Beloved, you have always shown yourselves obedient; and now that I am at a distance, not less but much more than when I am present, work out your salvation in fear and trembling"
Rom 11:22 "There is graciousness, then in God, and there is also seerity. His severity is for those who have fallen away, His graciousness is for thee, only so long as thou dost continue in His grace; if not, thou too shalt be pruned away".
Remember that Paul was writing to Christian people of Rome and Philippi. Why would Paul write those words if those Christians were already assured of their salvation?
Consider these Paul's letters:
Rom 5:2 "We are confident in the hope of attaining glory as the sons of God."
If we are assured of salvation, then we have no reason to hope because we know for certain that heaven is ours.
Here's what Paul says about hope:
Rom 8:24 "Hope would not be hope at all if its object were in view; how could man still hope for something which he sees?"
If the formula to salvation were "Believe in Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior" then why didn't the Apostles made it plain or stated it as it is? Why go all through the admonitions as already stated? The answer is simple: There is no such thing as absolute assurance of salvation. Proof of that are the works of the Church Fathers who succeeded the Apostles in the next generation of christians some of whom had the aquiantance of the Apostles themselves.
Ignatius of Antioch
"Be pleasing to him whose soldiers you are, and whose pay you receive. May none of you be found to be a deserter. Let your baptism be your armament, your faith your helmet, your love your spear, your endurance your full suit of armor. Let your works be as your deposited withholdings, so that you may receive the back-pay which has accrued to you" (Letter to Polycarp 6:2 [A.D. 110]).
Justin Martyr
"We have learned from the prophets and we hold it as true that punishments and chastisements and good rewards are distributed according to the merit of each man's actions. Were this not the case, and were all things to happen according to the decree of fate, there would be nothing at all in our power. If fate decrees that this man is to be good and that one wicked, then neither is the former to be praised nor the latter to be blamed" (First Apology 43 [A.D. 151]).
Irenaeus of Lyons
"[Paul], an able wrestler, urges us on in the struggle for immortality, so that we may receive a crown and so that we may regard as a precious crown that which we acquire by our own struggle and which does not grow upon us spontaneously. . . . Those things which come to us spontaneously are not loved as much as those which are obtained by anxious care" (Against Heresies 4:37:7 [A.D. 189]).
Lastly, the Apostle Paul warns the Christians in Corinth, "Whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall" (1 Cor. 10:11–12).

Because the Bible says so. Romans 10:10,13 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
John 6:47 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life.
We cannot just get saved and then continue in our sin. Being saved includes repentence which means turning away from sin.
Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
And yes, God does not change. However when Jesus paid the price for sin some things changed. One of those things was that we are not required to obey the 613 laws that people had to obey previously. When someone is saved they want to glorify God by living in His will.

Hey-if you can keep all those old testament laws---more power to you!! I absolutly know I could NOT. That's the whole point-- we do not have the ability to be perfect, we can't follow the "rules".
Now we have grace-- and we are covered by that grace, but Paul talked about this--he asked --should we go on sinning so we can have MORE grace??
Look at Romans 6:1&2 for the answer!

It is so written in the Bible that no man comes to the Father except by me. It is only by a belief in Jesus Christ that one comes to the Father and it says all one must do is confess their sins and believe that Jesus rose from the dead and was the son of God to be saved. You can commit the sins of which you speak and long as you confess them to the Lord then they shall be forgiven for long as the blood that jesus shed for you covers you God remembers not.

Complete forgiveness is complete it doesn't mean that God doesn't spank us anymore.
Hebrews 12:5-11 And have you forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons? “My son, do not scorn the Lord’s discipline or give up when he corrects you. “For the Lord disciplines the one he loves and chastises every son he accepts.” 7 Endure your suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline? 8 But if you do not experience discipline, something all sons have shared in, then you are illegitimate and are not sons. 9 Besides, we have experienced discipline from our earthly fathers and we respected them; shall we not submit ourselves all the more to the Father of spirits and receive life? 10 For they disciplined us for a little while as seemed good to them, but he does so for our benefit, that we may share his holiness. 11 Now all discipline seems painful at the time, not joyful. But later it produces the fruit of peace and righteousness for those trained by it.

Yes, believe, but also do good works. Nothing is free. You give away your old self and are born anew. You are a new person in christ.

your on the right track just wrong page. belief brings faith which brings the desire to follow Gods law. when you truly accept christ as your savior. you usually want to do good things and see others saved. you are supposed to turn away form sin but as is human nature we all fall. thus comes forgivenessand repentance. repent means to turn away from. a true Christian will strive to stay within Gods laws.
