The cat will start acting strange the day she goes into labor. She will start going around the house looking for a safe place to have the kittens. If you are close with your cat she may even want you close when she has the kittens. Especially if it is her first litter. My cat had kittens some time ago in the closet and would not stay in there to have the kittens unless my wife was there to assure her everything was ok. The mother may also want to move the babies around after birth so keep an eye on what she is doing with them. You may want to put a blanket down in a area where you think she may be looking. A lot of cats seem to like the closet or under the bed. Somewhere a little isolated and safe. Good luck with the kittens. You will know, your cat will let you know when it is time. As far as the milk thing goes it is nature. She will be just fine. Attached is a web site for cat health. look under pregnancy and you may get a more professional answer.

most cats will stop eating the day before or the day that they will go into labor, they usually start nesting, meaning looking for a safe place to have the kittens the day before as well. most will have a temperature drop below 99 f. 24 hrs. to giving birth. they also have a mucusy, bloody discharge either the day before or just a few hrs prior to giving birth

When your cat is close to giving birth, she will start removing the fur around her nipples and will start building a nest out of whatever is handy. When actual labor begins, she will be restless and can't get comfortable. Don't worry about her producing milk. Nature will take care of it.

Call a local vet. Just look them up in the phone book. I'm sure that's the easiest, fastest and most reliable way.

she will start purring almost, she will start looking for a place to lay hidden away, there will be a brownish red discharge, and she creep around real low...you will be able to tell she feels uncomfortable.
