The long answer?
As has been mentioned already, compare the parts you want to swap. If the parts look similar (size, bolt pattern, fittings, etc.), chances are the parts will interchange. This should work well with anything hanging off the engine.
As far as changing sensors (electrical, ignition, pollution controls and on board computer parts) and even engine block parts, you will need to start looking at engine class, Vehicle Identification Numbers, and getting manuals (Haynes or Chilton) for each of the vehicles for comparison purposes. You may also want to start picking the brain of a VERY GOOD auto parts dealer. All this is due to changes made from year to year and model to model. Seven years is a long time for things to change in the auto industry.
The best answer?
If you are not really concerned about the Taurus, sell it and invest the money you get out of it into the parts you need for the Ranger.
This will save you time, money, headaches and the possibility of further expenses due to putting incompatible or inoperative parts on your truck. Believe me, I have seen it done time and again.
Also.........
Get a Haynes or Chilton manual for your truck. It will provide a wealth of information.

Yes some parts will work and some will not. All Ford parts have some part number on them. If you are not sure then find the numbers on the part and compare it to the other part numbers. As far as the oil filter, for about $5.00 go and buy a new one. You don't want to use a filter that may be contaminated.
