What is the point of casting a stone when I have to look at myself first before I can give an answer? I must first cast out the beam from my own eye before I can pull out the mote from my brothers eye. I cannot judge any man unless my life is perfectly in line with God's will.

The first thing that someone should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.

If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.
All this talk about sin sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me.

First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.

How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work?

It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.

One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.

Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.

If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.

If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.

How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.

Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.

If this is the case then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.

How likely is that????

Think about it.

The idea of sin is simple nonsense; a lie made up about God by religion.

I think most on here have cast a few stones, and none are without sin. to answer your question, Yes I can see my name there, we all get our toes stepped on at times, and we speak our minds, and some hateful things. I hope I haven`t hurt anyones feelings with anything I have said, if I have I am sorry.

Just as a side note, the 'cast the first stone' example is not in the original LXX leather manuscripts.

Since the account isn't truly parallel with the rest of the Bible, it's authenticity is in question.

For the most part I try to answer reasonably...but there are some questions that deserve condemnation (IE why did the US cause 9-11)
I try to respect those who ask respectful questions...and belittle those who are purposely hateful.

Lets see how many stones are cast at you for this question

And Jesus walketh between the crowd and see-eth the bound maiden about to be stoned. And Jesus spake, "Let ye without sin casteth the first stone." And thereupon a stone sailed from the back of the crowd and struck the poor maiden dead. And truly, Jesus speaketh-ed again and sayeth, "Okay mom, very funny."

Sorry, just having a bit of fun. ;-)

Well, Answers insults and arguing are here to day gone tomorrow, no one usually gets hurt and if they got their feelers hurt they belong on another site, I guess.
When somebody gets really out of line, there's the abuse button, That's what it's for, No need for stones at all. Or a Bible quotation.

Funny how those verses are not in the original Aramaic or the Greek translation of the New Testament. All evidence suggest it was added in the Latin, for unknown reasons. Although I believe in fair and compassionate treatment, anyone who tries to strictly apply that advice is asking for an end to law. Sometimes people need to be shaken to wake them up.

I don't cast stones concerning religion. I only cast stones at people who are perversely cruel.

it was actual stones. It's called being stoned to death they used to punish people that has done wrong. it's in the bible and back in the salam witch trials they stoned the so called witches, hung them, and drowned them. i believe it means to me that you can not judge someone that has sined. Because everyone has sined. So it's like i cant though the stone, nor most of the people i know...
