I used to like him and we used to flirt a lot and we've talked on the phone a couple of times. but when i realized that i need to be talking to guys who are my age, I stopped calling him (even though I see him on Sunday's at church). but at church i notice that he still looks at me a lot and i dont know how to tell him that i dont like him anymore (even though i still do) because he's too old for me.
and we've never told each other that we like each other, it was just the little things that we would say to each other or do for each other that showed that we liked one another.
what should i do???

Just be friends with him. Wait until you graduate High School (if you haven't already) and if he's still into you and you into him, try dating him. Just don't compromise your beliefs.

Well..four years is really not that much. I'm 17 and a 27 year old was hitting on me. Of course I didn't go for it although he was SOO hot. Haha. I think ten years is a bit extreme. You'll see when you're his age that 4 years is nothing. Guys are just better when they're older. More mature, more settled. Flirting is not bad. Everyone does it whether they realize they are or not. If you're really set on "not liking" this guy, then ignore him. If he keeps it up and it really bothers you, you can ask him to stop. He probably thought that you liked him and is just trying to get you interested in him again. Its really not a big deal. Who knows, you might run into him a few years later and then something can happen between the two of you. Its better not to burn your bridges before you walk across them. Good luck!!

When I was 17 I was dating a 24 year old so I don't see the problem...but I guess it depends on your parents' point of view. I personally think that age is nothing more than a number. Oh and by the way...this man and I are still together and I am 25 now.

He is not too old for you. When you are twenty, he will be 25. You just need to date him without sleeping with him because at your age you are considered jail bait. In other words, a minor and he would be guilty of statutory rape and considered a sex offender. Then again, at 16 , you probably should not be sleeping around anyway. You don't have a full time job, are still in school, and are in no shape to have a baby financially or emotionally so you should not dump someone because you can't sleep w/them, if that is what you meant by he is too old for you. Otherwise, enjoy the burgers, ice creams and movies with him. What can it hurt?

I've been with my boyfriend for four years now. I met him when I was 17 and he was 22...so it's not THAT big of a deal. But you know yourself better than I do, so if you feel like he's too old for you then don't do anything else with him personally, like personal phone calls and such. Just say hey to him in public and stuff. But if you really like him...don't let his age stop you from liking him because 5 years is not that big of an age gap.

Keep him as a friend, until you turn age 21. If there is still something between you, then consider dating. If he cannot wait until you reach age 21, drop him. There is a lot more guys out there. And YES, talk to guys your age. If he has a problem with this, drop him! You are NOT his girlfriend. If there is any problems, tell the church staff and your parents.

When I was 16 I dated a 22 year old. The age difference at that time in our lives was a lot but we didn't think about it. We just had fun and when it ended we were happy to have enjoyed it. She and I ended it well as we were both ready to move on. Maybe he is thinking the same.
If not, Just tell him it was fun and you enjoyed the moment but that moment has passed.

If your not interested don't play around he will get the hint. If he doesn't just be honest with him about the age problem and if your not serious with someone when you turn 18, go for it! Once you are an adult age is really mind over matter-If you don't mind-it don't matter!

Well, if you were 18, I would say that if you like him, then maybe you should go out with him. But since you aren't legal, it may not be safe for you 2 to be together.
