get spanked? years back in the 1970s I had an elementary school teacher that would only spank boys. If a girl needed correcting, she would slap her on her palm, but not her bottom. I don't think this was fair.

My elementary school in North Carolina would 'paddle' those who had reached the top tier of the punishment ladder (in my entire time there, 5 years, I only knew of two or three kids who would get paddled). I agree that this shouldn't be done by the school system, but I seriously doubt it is used any more; with parents being all sue-happy. In my opinion, only boys would get spanked for a few reasons:
1- suppose to be tougher than girls
2- girls are the weaker of the two sexes
3- could be seen as a molestation-type of action
4- more socially acceptable to hit a boy rather than girl (esp. true irreguardless of the sex of the teacher)
5- girls are 'sugar and spice and everything nice'
6- girls don't know any better (as if we were but poor, simple, dumb creatures)
I could go on. Also, if you think about it, in the 70's there was this whole feminist revolution going on in America where any thing, esp. negative, would be viewed as discirminatory and evil. Unfortunately, a lot of the people I was told about/know to be a 'femi-nazi' hold their views of feminism not as equality of the sexes, but female domination and superiority. Little skewed, but hey, what isn't?

Things were different in the '70's. If a teacher had to spank a student, the teacher had to have 2 other teachers as witnesses to the spanking. Guess they were worried about the student's parents involving a court case. But now, it is considered mean and unusual punishment. When I was growing up, girls didn't get into trouble that was the boys thing to do.

I think they should have spanked girls. But now they chould hrt noone has the right to touch another kid without parent aggrement. Today if Parents say yes to spanking schools can do it.

Fortunately- it's generally accepted that spanking and any kind of physical abuse isn't the best way to discipline a child- either male or female.

I agree with you although I don't think I ever saw a girl in school get the paddle. I was in school in the 70s and saw lots of guys get it.

In this day and age no one should hit any children, If you raise them with good morals they should listen to adults in school , that of course if the adult is right. That is why one should talk to their children on what happened whenever the parent is away from them.

-I think they should get a ruler a hit every student with dirty nails..
-if they act crazy in class, they should walk around school holding a banner and asking forgiveness
-if they litter they should pick up a full bag of trash around school
-if they still mis-behave beat them up!
