GE side by side stainless fridge with ice-make (not hooked up)about 4yrs old...the freezer has frost on the back of it & not freezing anything;the main fridge area is barely staying cool. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I had the same thing happen with my side-by-side. It was the auto-defroster unit that was not working. If it can't stay defrosted, the coils get all iced up and won't cool properly anymore.

The first thing the repair guy did was expose the coils from the inside by removing a panel at the back of the freezer compartment. Then he literally used a hair dryer to defrost the unit which got it working again for a day while he ordered the part.

If I remember right, the part and labor came to around $225.

there is a tube that runs from freezer to fridge .It may be clogged
Happened to me and a guy fixed it with a long wire rod

check the cooling fan

sounds like the compressor. need a repair man.
