The Old Testament Ark of the Covenant was a large box that contained the staff of Aaron, The Ten Commandments on the tablets and manna from the desert. It was only carried or touched by the Levite Priests.
The "Ark of the NEW Covenant" is Mary. The old one carried the word of God as inscribed on tablets. Mary carried within her the Word of God...Jesus Christ. Remember John's Gospel starts out; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God..And the Word WAS God. He later says that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
John later tells us in the 12th Chapter of Revelations he saw the woman with a crown of 12 stars and the moon at her feet...read the rest for yourself.
The Ark of the Covenant resides in Heaven.

you have to remember the bible is written in metaphore.. it contains TONS of cryptic messages. So when you hear mary was a virgin.. you cannot think of that virginity in current terms..virgin then simply ment she'd never been married not that she WAS a virgin.. Did you know Adam was married to Lilith before eve?..lol.. its all in there.. study that book carefully over and over.. the more you read it cover to cover the more of this picture you'll see.. even where the "ark" is..btw ark..think metaphor
