I just went into her area and found what looks like chewed food on the floor. I think she may have vomitted. I feed her dry food only. I also wonder if it has anything to do with the new water fountain I bought her.

Hi Nicole...there are many variables as to why a cat would vomit and is difficult diagnose without involving a vet. However, evidence of the food may indicate she gobbled her meal too quickly, over ate or a case of nervous stomach or perhaps a hairball, which isn't uncommon even if it's not visible. If this rarely occurs I wouldn't be too worried. If it happens consistenly then it would warrant a visit to the vet to be examined. The water fountain is unlikely the reason for this to happen unless she is quite nervous being around it, which most cats are not.

She probably has a hair ball. This is the season. If you can stomach it, poke through the vomit a little with a stick or something and see if there is hair mixed in with the vomit.

If she continues to vomit, call her vet first thing in the morning. Cats can dehydrate very quickly.

I hope she's ok. I doubt it has anything to do with the water fountain.

Yes cats vomit. I have seen my cat do it more times than I would like to admit. He is a pig in a cats body. I have several cats and he gobbles his food down as fast as he can and then tries to get what he can get from the left overs of the other cats. I have also found that sometimes he will do this when his litter box is not kept to his liking as well. If nobody believes me I can tape it. It happens at least once a week. Its aggravating because cleaning it up is a pain and if he does it when your not around it can stain the carpet.

There are lots of reasons. First of all, is she otherwise acting normal? If not, get her to the Vet. Cats don't ever want anyone to know they are sick. They are the best at hiding it so if she's been a little quieter than norm, she could be sick longer than you think. If she's otherwise acting normally, sometimes elevating the food bowl (about an inch) can help alleviate the problem of vomiting undigetsed food. It puts your cat in a more natural postiton to eat and she may swallow less air causing the regurgataion.

It could simply be a hairball or a matter of eating too fast. If your cat persists in vomiting on a regular basis however, take it to the vet and have it checked. I had a kitten several years ago that did this and we assumed it was due to bolting down it's food, but it actually turned out to be a tumor growing along the esophagus.

it probably doesnt have anything to do with the new water fountain...sometimes cats just eat more than they should it is very common for them to overeat and then vomit..dont worry she is fine and i bet she will be back over at the food dish in no time...just scurry her away from it for now she has had enough

Cats vomit when they eat too fast. Or if they were out last night and ate someone who didn't agree with them.
In your case it sounds like she ate too fast.
Water fountain? Your cat has a water fountain? Maybe she drank too fast.

Yes she did but feeding her only on a dryed food diet isn't good as she isn't getting the nutritional values they need, They need mostly canned food and only 10% of there diet is dry food.

yea that sounds like vomiting. sometimes cats vomit for "no reason" take her temp if she doesn't have a fever just watch her take her food away for 12 hrs make sure she still has access to water don't want her dehydrating.

I wouldn't worry about it, but maybe keep an eye on it to see if it continues. I am told that cats actually eat grass in order to make them vomit. It is supposed to clean out their system. At least that is what I am told.
