Contact dermatitis as it is called can be caused by many substances. Paint thinner could indeed produce such a reaction. I recommend thorough cleaning of your hands and lower arms with a good simple detergent like dish washing soap. Then use a moisturizing cream. If this doesn't solve the problem and the condition persists for more that two days, see a dermatologist.

Paint Thinner On Skin

It does deteriorate skin and if left on long enough it will give you chemical burns. The tingling your felling will go away but that's your body telling you something isn't right. What you'll basically experience for what you did is a little bit of dryness in the skin of your hands. Nothing to panic over though.

My dad is a spray painter and he washes his hands in paint thinner every day. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm sure they're tingling because they have paint thinner on them. Call the poison control center if blisters appear.

I used to work with laquer thinner every day. Wash my hands in it. I used to do auto body repair. my hands used to be dirty with paint, & I'd wash them with thinner. Then go wash with soap. I never had problems with thinner.

Yes, it is caustic. Follow the directions for First Aid on the can. Generally flush it with lots and lots of water for a couple of minutes. Then thoroughly wash your hands when the irritation subsides. Seek medical help if your skin blisters.

Oh yes---it can cause severe irritation and a rash. I assume you've washed by now?
