Plants. Pothos is an easy to care for plant that needs little light.
Fabrics. Bright interesting colors and textures.
Furniture placement and the colors you choose can go a long way toward making a room look sophisticated and pulled together. Get some decorating books at the library with lots of pictures. I'm sure you'll find a room to copy.

Try a bright bedspread, throw rug, and throw pillows. You can also change the shade on your lamp if you have one. If you can't really afford to get a new lamp shade, take some bright material or tissue paper, and glue it over the original shade with a glue gun. Put a colorful scarf of some kind on your dresser. Make or buy some really large artificial flowers. You can find a lot of these items in yard sales. Often times, if you watch the sale ads, you can find these items, even if you have to get them one at a time.
You will find that each time you add something with color, it inspires and motivates you to get another. Have fun!!!

Accesorize!(lol)
Curtains, bed spread, throw pillows, throw rugs, colored lamp shades, drape sheer fabrics around the room like a fishermans net would drape. Hang pics/ posters . Try a colored light bulb in a small lamp.

When I lived at home, my mom had no care what I did to my room. I wallpapered my walls with artwork, photos, magazine & newspaper pictures, ticket stubs and all kinds of things & pictures of people that interested me. I had a fishnet hanging from the ceiling with things Id collected from places Id been...It was really wild-pretty messy too!

You can decorate with fabrics that you like from the craft store and pin them up on the wall. You can also create a collage on your walls by hanging colorful pictures that are store bought or perhaps some that you have created yourself.

You can do a lot. You can stencil around your room or put up a border. Get new curtains or blinds, put up colorful pictures, get new bedding, get some fun accessories for your room - like some funky lights.

U didn't say yr age. I am a mom too, so I can understand why. To moms, if u want to live with us, u have to follow house rules. Do/paint/mess yr OWN house if u like. S long s u live with us, just keep yr room reasonably tidy/clean ........ that's all we ask for
