not mine. she's 10 with a cell phone. i can have her wait outside the bathroom briefly and feel safe knowing she can buzz me in an instant. plus there are surveillance cameras and kind people around (more than there are bad people). And she knows what to do where strangers are concerned. and more importantly than all of the above, .... I pray for God to protect her and then I trust that he will.... no worries.

Below the age of 7 or 8 I would take them into the stall with me. There are too many crazy people in the world just waiting for a child left alone, even for a minute.

They come in the stall with me until a certain age because if im leaving even my 3 year old outside the stall with my 8 year old and the 3 year old decides to run off how can i know whats going on when im in the middle of a bowel disaster? If a kid has a 1% chance of running off because he/she feels like it than i bring them in the stall...most kids until around 8 cant be trusted to sit and not move no matter what.

Take them in the stall with you. Use the handicap stall if you can. There are too many weirdos out there that would harm your child. And, what you went through was completely natural and will help the child understand that it is a normal part of life.

How old is the child?
If the bathroom is just a little room with a toilet, I would bring the child in with me.
If the bathroom is a room with several stalls, I would enter the stall myself and have the child stand right by the stall door where I can see his/her little feetsies. I would tell them to "hold the door for me" even if the door works fine, so they think they are doing something special for mama.
It may be stinky, but it's better than losing your child!

it would depend on how old the child is. if under 4 in the stall with you if over 4 and will sit quietly until you are done then outside the stall but never where you couldn't still see some part of thier body

It depends on the place. If i was at my hometown grocery store i might let her be outside the stall. But if i am at a big store in the stall she goes. I usually get the big stall and give her something to play with or look at. Also depends on age, you don't really need to take a ten year old in with you.

I agree with the above answerer, use the handicap stall. It's roomy enough to accommodate. It's just like leaving a baby in the car when you go into the store...not worth the risk.

Never leave your child out in the restroom. Never leave your child anywhere that you can't grab them if needed or see them. It's no fun for them to be in the stall with you but better than a stranger grabbing them while your pants are down.

If you plan on leaving her outside the stall have her stand in front so that you can see her legs/feet at all times. Talk to her constantly, if at all possible-we are talking diarrhea sometimes you can' talk, so you feel more secure.
