Of course--that is the whole point. Just take a deep breath, walk up to a guy you are interested in and say, "Hey, want to be my date for the Sadie Hawkins dance?" If they say yes, great, if they say anything else, say, "Okay, no problem, hope to see you there!" Either way, stay confident and relaxed and saunter leisurely to your next class.

Well, here's a funny story! When I was in high school, many moons ago...my best friend and I called the guy the other one liked and pretended we were the other one...and asked a guy out. Neither guy knew we were not who we said we were, and they both said yes! It was much easier to ask the other person's crush! Itg was pretty silly, but it worked and made for a great memory! You ask in like a really cute way...
1. decide who to ask and make sure that he already doesn't have a date
2. find out what he likes (ex: sports)
3. think of something and write it on the ball (ex: baseball, basketball, football)
4. Give it to him and wait for an answers. They won't say no because that is just totally mean

Just ask! The worst thing they will say is "no" - and then you can just move on to the next guy! You don't have to make a big deal about it, just be friendly and ask them if they'd like to go to the dance with you, it's that simple.
