Tuleen is my mother's name. She has never met anyone with someone who has the same name.

I have looked and looked and LOOKED for the meaning, so I ask to you: Do you know what it means?

Alright, this is gonna depend on your ethnicity, really. Here's the closest I found:

Thuillier, or phonetically, Two-Lee-Er, which is the French version for the English Tiler, a marker or layer of tile from the Middle English "tile." The reason I think this is closer, is because of the misspelling of names on immigration records and census. The "r" was often confused with an "n." So, you say it that way and it sounds like, Two-Lee-En. Say it fast enough, like a native speaker, and it equals Tuleen.

In addition, there's and English Tull, which is believed to come from the Old English name Tula.

Now, there's also a Tully in Irish, but I'm not sure how that "n" would have gotten there. That one can mean several things:

Anglicized Gaelic "O Taithlagh," meaning descendant of Taithleach, a given name meaning quiet or peaceable.

It can also be the Anglicized Gaelic "O Maol Tuile," descendant of the devotee of St. Tuile, from toil which means will, usually of God.

And just to be difficult, if you've ever heard of Tulane University, look up Tulane, and misspellings are VERY common. It could be a variation of that.

This all being said, there have already been several responses, one having to do with Aboriginal language, which may be right, if you are descended from that ethnicity. You'll have to find that out before you will know for sure.

it could be a combination of two names. Tullia is the closest i found meaning quiet one(Irish). If she has never meet anyone with that name then I would say that it's a very original or old name. What you could do is pick some of your mums beautiful characteristics and write up a meaning for her. I'm sure she would think that that was better than something a book said.

Hmm, well, unfortunately, my search also yielded no results ... Tuleen sounds very beautiful though ... I did find a name close to it ...

TALINE
Gender: Feminine

Usage: Armenian

Meaning unknown. This was the name of an old Armenian monastery.

So Tuleen could be a variation of Taline. And another search on Google led me to a forum discussion that suggested that is could possibly be a Finnish word.

Not every name has a meaning. It may have been "made up" by her parents.
