my sister has a cat like this and it's kinda goldish with lighter layers and small amounts of white. we don't know what type it is and i'm just curious to see if it's a pure breed or if we just got lucky on getting a good looking cat with no real background like a "mut". oh i don't know if this will help but it has hair on the bottom of it's feet between the toes that makes the feet look like pom-poms.

Hi there...sounds like it is either a Maine Coon mix because of the hair between the toes (common trait in this particular breed) or a Somali mix

Here are some photos that may look like your kitty:

One person said it sounded like a maine coon, I have two maine coons that weigh well over 12 lbs each, I doubt it's a maine coon as they are usually larger bodied, not long and skinny. A couple of breeds it could be are Javanese, or Turkish Angora (you can look up pics of them on the net) but those aren't very common, so your sister probably just ended up with a pretty cat that's a "mutt" :)

The oriental breed has a long sleek body with a very narrow face and can be either short hair or long hair.

Unless your sister got the cat from a breeder, I would guess it's probably a mix of oriental and a domestic long hair.

Does it resemble this cat? http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/oriental.html

It's all simply a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys such as it. And i prefer a man with short hair over a person with long hair because long hair tends to make guys look as well girly.
