when you are cold, the blood vessels in the skin contracts to conserve heat: so when the capillaries in the nail beds contract they turn from pink to a shade of blue

If you are outside in the cold weather when you feel chilly, you can put your hands in you coat pockets and move them from left to right so that the back of your coat rubs back and forth against your back. That back rub like activity will help warm up your back and eventually most of your body. But the best approach, if your sweetheart is with you, is to ask him to hug you and rub your back to help keep you warm. As soon as you can though, you should get out of the cold. Take your act inside where it's warm. Your nails should turn pink again when they warm up.

No, it is normal. This is the body's way of maintaining the temperature in the body. When the environment is cold, the blood vessels tends to constrict..to allow the cells to produce as much heat as possible. BUT when the blood turns blue-violet..it means that you have to make a way to get warm.Try rubbing your hands.Hope this helps. God bless!

when you are cold, the blood tends to go to the internal organs to keep them warmer, giving you decreased circulation in the extremities.
