Christians keep going on about loving each other and quoting tripe from the bible. In that same Bible it is said that you should not judge others.
Yet Christians are the most judgemental people on this planet.
They are forever telling us that by doing such and such we are sinning. If we do not comply with their beliefs then they turn their little christian noses up at us in disgust!
Is this not judging?

And I beg you, PLEASE!... do not even try to tell me it is the teachings of the Bible because that book just contradicts itself the whole way through!

Sensible agreeing answers are a plus here.

Mr.Mister, you are the biggest, clearest example of what I mean here. So wrapped up in your own views and blinkered to anybody elses opinion. I am 100% positive you are a bible basher.
Just to point out, I have read the bible, studied it even. And have been baptised twice, so I do know what I am talking about. Unlike your blinkered self.
All the best you tiny minded freak of nature.

Ok Paddy, as for the contradictions.
It says an eye for an eye, but also turn the other cheek.
It tells us we should not eat shellfish etc but then goes on to say do not be judged by what you eat and drink.
Just two examples off the top of my tiny little atheist head.

Where did you find out that Christians are the most judgemental people on this planet? I'm guessing that that is just your personal experience, and I don't blame you for summing up a whole group of people with just the few that you have seen. We all do it. We all judge people and jump to conclusions or generalizations. I could just as well say that all jocks are dumb and be just as wrong as you are when you say that Christians are the most judgemental people.

Certain things are sins. But, I don't walk around pointing out every little thing that people do wrong. I do just as many things wrong. The only difference is that I'm forgiven. But, you've probably heard all of that before, so I'll just continue addressing your question rather than try to "bash" you with a Bible, since you know all about it, apparently. My little Christian nose is no better than yours, and neither is anyone else's. All Christians are not judgemental hypocrites. But, some do take things overboard...way overboard, and apparently these are the ones that you know. They make mistakes just as you do, but they do it because they think it's for your own good, when it's really just messing everything up.

I'm sorry that you've run into some rough spots with Christians. But, please realize that not everyone of them is going to turn their nose up at you. Please realize that we're people too, and we make mistakes. We're not perfect, and neither are you. So, I see no reason for you to complain about us being judgemental when you're doing the exact same thing. I'm sorry that this answer isn't agreeing with you, but in my eyes, it's sensible.

Not all Christians are judgmental (just as not all atheists hate Christians). The Bible does say that Jesus will be the judge of mankind. I try hard to use that when I answer a question asking me to make a judgment. I still use my knowledge of the Bible because that is a part of my belief (the Bible is the Word of the Lord). If the Bible states that something is a sin, then I repeat that statement - without making the judgment. I am not God, so I do not know who will enetr His kingdom. I only know what I have learned from the Bible.

it is true that christians don't always follow the teachings of God. just because someone becomes a christian does not mean that they suddenly stop sinning. they try to and God will help them but they are only human and so they continue to sin. they also don't always include God but try to do somethings in their own strength. "turning their ... noses up" and being judgemental are wrong but that is why jesus died so we can be forgiven for the things we do wrong and be put right with God. the reason we "are forever telling" you "that by doing wrong and such" you "are sinning" is because we want to give you a chance to recieve that forgiveness too. believe it or not God loves you.

Mat 7:1 Do not judge, that you may not be judged;
Mat 7:2 for with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured again to you.

Mat 7:1 -
Judge not ... - This command refers to rash, censorious, and unjust judgment. See Rom_2:1. Luke Luk_6:37 explains it in the sense of “condemning.” Christ does not condemn judging as a magistrate, for that, when according to justice, is lawful and necessary. Nor does he condemn our “forming an opinion” of the conduct of others, for it is impossible “not” to form an opinion of conduct that we know to be evil. But what he refers to is a habit of forming a judgment hastily, harshly, and without an allowance for every palliating circumstance, and a habit of “expressing” such an opinion harshly and unnecessarily when formed. It rather refers to private judgment than “judicial,” and perhaps primarily to the customs of the scribes and Pharisees.

Mat 7:2 -
With what judgment ... - This was a proverb among the Jews. It expressed a truth; and Christ did not hesitate to adopt it as conveying his own sentiments. It refers no less to the way in which people will judge of us, than to the rule by which God will judge us. See 2Sa_22:27; Mar_4:24; Jam_2:13.
Mete - Measure. You shall be judged by the same rule which you apply to others.

I realize this is the unbelievers favorite verse, but they usually misunderstand its meaning. We are not to judge a certain action as wrong if we are engaged in the same action. That is, if I call someone an adulterer, yet am sleeping around myself, I am a hypocrite. We are called to speak out against evil in society and call it what it is, sin. If you don't agree, that's fine, that's your problem, not mine.
If I were to break into your home and steal your stuff, would you call me a thief? Isn't that being judgmental? Aren't you judging me? The knife cuts both ways.
And please, stop with the "Bible is full of contradictions" nonsense. Any that have been brought up have been easily dispensed with.
I see you you think the only sensible answers are those that agree with you, rather judgmental, don't you think?

I get some of what you're saying and I think what you're trying to say is right. However, its about as fair to tarnish all Christians with the same brush as it is to say all thin people are bullimics or anorexics. Some people take teachings from their bible - and by that I'm widening it to mean any holy book for any faith - and practice their lives by those teachings, principles and morals. At its best this means that people live with respect for themselves and others and within the law.

However, some people take things more than literally and read more into it than there is. And yes, part of that is looking down on people who do not meet their high moral standards. It flies in the face of faith to do that and when that happens they can be called hypocrites. However there is sometimes a fine line between 'sin' and 'law breaking'; if you're talking about the latter then you're breaking laws of your land in any event - but I don't think that's what you're really focusing on so I'll not dwell on it.

I'll back you up on the contradictions within the Bible (and people getting a bit upset should notice that you show enough respect to put a capital 'b' at the beginning of Bible) - for those saying you're wrong I say to you explain this:

It says an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth; and yet it says turn the other cheek. So how can it be both?

So long as you're guided by decency, show yourself and others respect, and live within boundaries of acceptability that you can justify you should never feel judged by others. At the end of the day we only have ourselves and those we love we need to answer to.

Me? I'm a non-practising Christian.

Unfortunately what you say is largely true.

Sadly a lot of "religious people" on Answers do far more harm than good and actually promote evil and hatred without realizing it.

It's a big generalisation to acuse all Christians but we take more notice of the loud fundamentalist quoting nutty types. They're difficult to ignore.

Follow the 10 commandments and you won't go wrong. You probably do already anyway. Have a look at them they're just sensible, practical rules for living- given to us by God. I'm not judging you and I'd love to hear what it is you've done that's so sinful according to these people. Email me through answers please.

Alright, I know we're an annoying bunch but calm down girl, you're gonna overload if you take these answers personally!
