If your talking about a chef's steel (long roundish piece of steel with a handle on it) it is not for sharpening your knife - only for honing it - bringing the edge already on it back to true. Be very careful you can really screw up a knife with one of those things. To use it properly, put the tip down on your table and pretend that you were going to cut a really thin strip off it. Make sure the knife is in contact with the steel from the handle and move all the way to the tip. Do this a few times on one side and then flip the knife and do the other, the same amount of times that you did the first side.
My recommendation is to take your knives to a professional - the place I take my knives only charges $7 to professional sharpen my knives.

Actually, a steel is not meant to sharpen knives. It is meant to align the edge, or keep the edge honed. This should be done regularly, at least every time it's used. More often, even every few minutes if you are using a knife extensively. If the knife is dull, you should use a stone to sharpen it before using the steel. Hint: Keep a little salad oil on your steel. You'll be much more pleased with the results. Oh yeah, listen to silky on how to draw the knife over the steel. Like you're trying to shave pieces of of it. Never drag the knife from end to end on the steel. You'll put grooves in the edge.

chicken biryani... had somebody from India supply me the recipe and take me by it step by step, whilst I made it. Took approximately 2 a million/2 hours.. in spite of the undeniable fact that it became out SO good! It became into extra effective than i presumed it may be. earlier i'd desire to even start up.. I had to save for components i do no longer frequently use.
