Make sure the diamond is certified, if it is not don't but it. I just got engaged and my ring is a princess cut, also slightly over 1 ct, G-color, VS1 clarity, 18 K white gold trellis setting for about $4500. a Go on www.bluenile.com and do build a ring. It will tell you all about the different credentials and what they mean as well as give you a good idea of what you want might cost. When you go to purchase your ring purchase the diamond seperately, for some reason they try to rip you off when it is already in a setting. Good luck!!!!

It sounds like a good price pending the quality of cut on the diamond. I found an Ideal quality diamond in a 18k setting h-cut, si2 clarity for $4350 on bluenile.com. They tend to have pretty competative prices.
So... i think you are getting a pretty good price. Good luck and congrats!

You are getting a very good deal. One carat diamonds run for about $4000. Then the band sounds very nice also. My sister has a beautiful ring 1.5 carats with a platinum band for 7500, and that was a steal because of the intricacies of the band. From what you have described I would go with that ring.

I agree what for you bf to get you one. If your just looking at stuff so you can show him what you want, that's great. However don't go out and buy one yourself.
The one I got my gf/future fiancee is one that she liked and showed me at a local jewelery store. It's not 2+ cwt or anything like that, but it is about 1 cwt and she loved it, so that's what is important to me. I plan to put a better diamond in it in a few year, but for now it's what she wanted so I'm fine with that.

not a good deal, s12 and h-color are a really bad quality. Try blue nile. You can get a better quality for the same price. Bluenile.com

Chain stores have a tendancy to really mark up the prices. Your best bet is to call a local jeweler and ask him/her that question.

I hope he has cash! Don't start off your married life in debt for a diamond ring.

Its a shame that you care so much about the ring specifications and price. If you love him and want to spend of your life with him, that's what matters, not how much the ring cost.

Well if you found out it would be more expensive elsewhere then it is probably a good deal.

How about waiting to see what your boyfriend presents you with when he asks you to marry him? And..... cut the drama.
