Judgement Day, has not come yet. Only God knows what hour He cometh. But I can tell you, this. If anyone worships Idol's it is against the first Commandment. Thou Shalt have No Other Gods before Me. What does this mean. You are not to worship any other idol or God. That is it !! Also in the Bible it says. We are not to Judge. In regards to the Catholic's, They have great and high respect for the Pope. From the days of Rome, he has been highly respected and the Catholics treat him like a Saint. But the Catholics should not pray to the Pope. Only to God.

Andrew's right on...read a history book...and then read the Bible...there are alot of "catholic" doctrine that is non-existant in the bible. So the question would have to be whether the pope believed in Jesus Christ as the sole way to get to heaven...looking at his past statements about how all religions lead to God then it would be hard to state his true heart felt beliefs. I'll find out if he's in heaven when i get there. but it is my opinion that there are many devout catholics that are true believers and followers of Christ. Some just get stuck in the dogma and the system to worship God. Lets remember that it was the catholic church that was responsible for most of the attrocities that are many times blamed on the Christian church...such as the crusades, wars, hatred for the Jews and the like...but read a history book, it's really interesting. It is amazing that the Love of Christ that so many claim to believe in just isn't evident in their lives...

Catholics are christians. Catholics don't "believe in the pope", he's just a minister. Don't tell me whatever church you go to doesn't have hierarchy.

As for the rosary, It's a counting aid, so you can keep track how many times you said each prayer, it's not an idol, nobody worships a rosary.

Some of them are very beautiful and old and they often have sentimental value, but that doesn't make them evil, any more than valuing your grandmothers crucifix is evil.

I think the question asker, and many of the answerers, are very confused and misinformed.

I think no one has the knowledge to respond that. I mean, one can't even know what God has prepared for oneself after death.

And about the Pope, I don't agree with the importance the Catholics assign him. And believe me, in some countries where catholicism was imposed by colonizers (like some in Latin America) the Pope is nearly seen as the conexion between God and the mortals!. He should be respected because of his knowledge and devotion, but he is nothing else than another human being. Well, I guess I'm getting to one of the main points of the discussion between Reformist Christians and Catholic Cristians: read the 5 "solas" at wikipedia, they're interesting:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_solas

By the way, to the person saying Protestants worship the Bible... You're wrong, we don't. And when you say we pay more attention to what a book says than what Christ says... where exactly do you think knowledge of the word of Christ should be learned from? From the mouth of some priest who might as well be misinterpreting it? We learn it from the Bible, since everyone should have its own understanding of the teachings of Christ. It's not right to just believe what some guy has to say.

Catholics are Christians, so I will answer your question. No, I do not think Pope John Paul II went to hell. The pope is no more a human idol than someone like Billy Graham is.

A lot of people who are not Catholic do not understand how Catholics view the pope. We do not think he is perfect. We do realize that he is (or was) just a man. John Paul II was a very humble man. Brilliant too. You should read some of his encyclicals. He had a very deep understanding of the Gospel message.

Catholics are not only Christians, they are the original Christians...all other Christians broke away from the Catholic Church at one time or another.

As for the Pope, he is not believed to be an idol by Catholics. Where do you get your information?

I don't think the Pope was his own idol. He was a representative of God just as a priest or pastor. He was just anointed to a higher position in the church. The Bible does say that God has anointed leaders to their position and we are to respect that position. No, I'm not catholic. I'm just looking at it from their perspective. If the Pope worshiped the Lord whole heartily and lived a good life, I'm sure he will enter the kingdom of heaven.

To Redeye Treefrog and the rest of you who have no knowledge of what Catholicism is:

I couldn't help but notice your comment/question:

Very good question. Never thought of it that way!!
But, I agree with you about the Catholic religion.
I wonder about the rosary...isn't that an idol?

I have news for you...The Rosary is absolutely NOT an idol. It is a series of contemplative prayers that focus on the main chapters of the life of Jesus Christ as they are recorded throughout the four Gospels of the Holy Bible New Testament. As you pray through the Rosary you are contemplating on these mysteries of Christ's life. Simply put....the Rosary is the "Prayer of the Gospels"

There are the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious mysteries. These are comprised of the Annunciation, Visitiation of Mary to Elizabeth, Birth of Christ, His Presentation to the Temple, and when Mary and Joseph found Him at the Temple when He was 12. Next is Jesus' Baptism, The Wedding at Cana, The Proclamation of the Kingdom, Transfiguration, and the Last Supper known as the Eucharist (means Thanks Giving), There is the Agony in the Garden, the scourging at the pillar, crowning with thorns, carrying the cross and crucifixion. Finally is the Resurrection of Christ, His ascension to Heaven, the descent of the Holy Spirit (Pentacost), the assumption and then coronation of Mary His mother.

Praying the Rosary brings one closer to Christ and you become very acquainted with Him and His life.

Learn what you insult before insulting.

Catholic are Christians, and the God get represented by the Pope,

Read the History book, it say that Roman Catholic came from Christianity. if you get confuse by all the answer in here, my advice is talk to your Pastor (Priest) about it.

And we all know that other Christian doesnt believe the pope or teh Virgin mary, it just that all different type of Christian follow there own way of belief to God, and thats when they created there own Christian-type religion.

-One advice, talk to your Pastor

No. I don't think he did. I think the Catholic religion is so misunderstood. they believe in Jesus and God. The saints they pray too are intercessors.
And I am very sorry that the belief that Catholics do not believe like Christians is around.
He is not their idol. He is the head of their Church, a religious leader.
