a rotator cuff tear is a tear in one (or more) of the four muscles of the shoulder (supraspinatus, subscapularis, infaspinatusm and teres minor). these muscles are responsible for most of the shoulder movement. generally the tear is in supraspinatus, but can occur in any of the muscles. depending of where and how bad the tear is determines the treatment, for minor tears physical therapy is recommended, for more major tears and ones that don't heal, surgery is recommended followed by physical therapy.

Rotator Cuff... depends on how bad it is, mine are both torn from playing softball and they want me to have surgery on both of them. I get a couple of steroid injections every year and will put off the surgery as long as I can.

a torn rotator cuff is a painful shoulder injury, and it is corrected by time, as the muscle has to knit back together
