I just bought a car privately about a month ago. I never went to change ownership at the DMV yet. Now I want to sell it because I have a financial emergency and need some money NOW. Am I going to have a problem selling it? Any information will help me. Thanks

You have to put the vehicle in your name (and pay any taxes and fees). Selling a car that is not titled in your name is not legal (unless you are a licensed dealer)

Check with your states DMV to see if they will issue you a title the same day, or if you have to wait for it to be mailed!!!!

If the car is not titled in your name, it's not your car! Therefore, you need to get the car titled and registered in your name for several reasons. 1) If the car is still titled and registered in someone elses name and you have an accident, they can be held liable as the owner of the car. 2) If the car is titled and registered in another person's name your insurance can and probably will refuse coverage in case of an accident since you legally don't own the car. 3) You can't offer the car for sale until you legally own the car with title and registration in your name!

All you need to do is pass to the DMV information superhighway website. seem up the state you'd be promoting you motor vehicle in and print out the information. There are about 3-4 places the position you'll prefer to signal, and fill out odometer information alongside with different thrilling stuff. After that, provide it to the customer of your motor vehicle, and your area of the deal is executed. I do recommend notwithstanding to take the plates off your self, in the journey that they don't report the paper artwork, and get stuck driving your previous motor vehicle with the plates you had nevertheless on it, it is your butt on the line.

If the title is not in your name, you cannot sell it.
