Your house. You can invite both parents but don't be a pushover if they start trouble, send them packing.

Do you have a pizza place anywhere near you, those are always great for kids. As far as your parents being together for this, ask yourself this - do they get along with one another since the divorce. If not, talk with them before hand and let them know what is going on and ask them to behave themselves. The party is for your child's first birthday and you do not want it ruined. They should be fine for a few hours don't you think

A great place for a child's first birthday party is at home.
Keep it simple. Invite a few people over for cake and ice cream. The child is one and won't remember anyway.

As for your folks, invite everyone and let them make their own decisions. If they cannot come together for a child's birthday and be civil, show them the door.

Once you go down that road it will never end...next will be Thanksgiving - then another holiday, then another and on it will go. Stop it before it starts. If one of them says something, tell them they're adults and know how to be polite so do it.

i think that they are going to have to get along for the child. there is nothing more important than that. i think the best place would be at the park.
