If someone gave you something such as a tool set and then a couple of months later they asked you if they could have two of those tools back to give to someone else - is that wrong? Would I be wrong to be hurt or upset by this?

Of course, it should not be done. They are rude. Return the remaining tools and tell them you find them useless without the other 2. Say "thanks but no thanks".

That is extremely tacky. I don't think you are wrong at all to be upset by it.

Thanks for the advice yesterday about me attending Uncle Louis' funeral - I just got back. It was rough with the kids, and hubby had to work late late last night so he could go, but it was worth it; I got to say goodbye.

who are the tools meant to be going to now? i would be a little peaved about it -espec if they were going to someone that i didnt like! Sounds like you have been sold up the river a little. i would be saying, "hell no"! Lol!

Keep those tools - what sort of friend would do that to you - I would so approach you in a better way about it!

No, you are not off base. It sounds sleezy with what they are doing. They gave it to you as a gift and they want to give them back to somebody else? Good grief...

Guess that depends on if - when they gave it to you - they said, "Here...this is for you to keep." If they were loaning you something that you needed at the time, great. Pass them on as needed. But if they were indeed a gift, my response would be, "Oh, tell (whomever) that I'd be happy to loan him (her) whatever they need from the great stuff you gave me!"
