I know it's written in the United States Constitution. You have freedom OF religion and freedom FROM religion. Not that this is paid much attention when it comes to legislating these days....

We have our free will but God specifically ask us not to worship any other gods ( Ten Commandments ). And the Bible also says that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and no one will enter to the Father's house except through Him. That is of course if you want to be with Jesus in eternity. As we have a lot of choices here on the earth...what comes to the eternity, there are only two choices: with Jesus and without Jesus. I choose to be with Jesus. Forever is a long long time.

The part where it says God gave us free will.
The only bad thing with that, is the fact that people do use their free will to believe in other Gods and to believe in NO God, so it isn't so good as far as that goes, but it is in the Bible that you can believe how you choose. Maybe not as God would choose though.

When the disciples came to Jesus complaining that some one was starting a new denomination, He said "If anyone gives you a drink of water in my name they shall not lose their reward.",
My church teaches tolerance.
11th Article of Faith
We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

If I do not believe, such a chapter is not relevant!
The reason that it is not mentioned is because if you didn't believe in it, you wouldn't take such a statement seriously; thus proving that we must have a right to believe what we want.
Get a life and stop harrasing people.
For the record - I am an Athiest and I am proud!!!!

I'm not sure what you are looking for but throughout scripture there is the counsel to not serve idols or graven images - just look in your Bible's index or concordance or topical guide.

treefrog - if god gave us free will, how can anything about it be bad? are you saying he made a mistake?
my father got so tired of people saying they were entitled to their own opinions (usually as a way to end debate.) he started to say, "No! No, you're not entitled to an opinion based on ignorance and wishful thinking and brainwashing and prejudice. You're not. What's the sense?"

Are you implying that we must believe?
Do you follow the bible verse for verse and rule by rule?
Do you not shave? Do you not eat shellfish or wear poly fibered blends?
Do you stone your children for disobeying you?
If god gave you free will, are you not allowed to believe what you want? Doesn't free will give you a choice to do as you please?

It says just the opposite. It says there is one God, One Lord, One Spirit, One Hope of Heaven, One FAITH, ONE BODY of believers. Ephesians 4:4-6 (PP)
If there is but ONE God, then there is but ONE FAITH and ONE BODY.
It's not a popular belief, but true nonetheless.
