Most people are smart enough to realize that Harry Potter is a fictional character and that the magic that takes place in the books/movies is also a work of fiction. It is created to amuse people, not to lure them away from God. By the way, some people believe God is about as real as Harry Potter.

actually there is a very strong following of Pagan people in the world that would tell you that Magick is very real and does in fact work.
magick in the contest of Harry potter is fiction and meant for entertainment.
if you want to condemn harry potter you better be planning on burning Cinderella on the same steak.
Disney has produced more tales of magic and wonder than any other company in the world.
snow white, cinderella, mickey mouse as the apprentice. the sword in the stone. Phinoccio, Alladdin. brother bear,
do i need to go on here...noone seems to need to crusify these classic tales.
this lieteral Witch Hunt for Harry Potter is just that. it is overzealous religious fundamentals attacking anything that they can to get a name for themselved.
do you want to know what the real magick behind Harry Potter is....
is getting my 5th grader to ask for books instead of video games for christmas.
is getting my 15 year old (a stuident not a child of mine ) to log off the computer and READ for once.
is watching an 8 year old's face light up when they open a present that is a book.
this is magic.
and if this scares you then you really need to reaffirm your faith in your God.
there are some really good lessons in the Harry Potter series.
if ADULTS would take 2 seconds to think about the content of the book instead of taking 2 minutes to burn it they might see that.

Telling a story about evil magic isn't the same as performing true magic. In fact, it is acceptable to the faithful. The bible depicts countless stories of evil magic being performed by or for the devil, and every evangalist known has depicted a catastrophe or crime as the "work of the devil" Are the biblical writers and evangalists going to hell for telling those stories? I don't think the faithful would think so. Thus, Harry Potter writers, you've done no worse than biblical and religious writers. You'll have to do some other deed to earn the wrath of hell.

No. Most people learn the difference between real and pretend from their parents when they are small children. The Harry Potter books and movies are supposed to be entertainment, not a replacement of the Bible. If anyone thinks Harry Potter is real, then that is the least of their problems.

I'm sure that IF God were real, he would be looking down on us all now and thinking, "They use my name to justify things WAY too much!"
And I am sure he would be more concerned with the murderers and criminals of the world, rather than the actors of the Harry Potter movies!
I'm sure I can see him now, sat up there on his throne saying, "Yes, war and famine will go unpunished, but the Harry Potter actors will burn in hell!"
WTF!!
I don't really believe some people.

Here's what Christian author CS Lewis (Who also wrote the Narnia series, and "Mere Christianity") had to say about using magic in children's books:
"Do you think I am trying to weave a spell? Perhaps I am; but remember your fairy tales. Spells are used for breaking enchantments as well as for inducing them. And you and I have need of the strongest spells that can be found to wake us from the evil enchantment of worldliness which has been laid upon us for nearly a hundred years."
If you want to read a good site about how Christians should think about Harry Potter, go to this site:

It is one of the best Christian responses to Harry Potter that I have ever seen.

Say it with me..."Harry Potter is not real. Harry Potter is a fictional being in an object made of paper and glue. Not real. Not real."
I'm sure higher entities have better things to do with their time than to worry what the world thinks of Harry Potter. You should too.

"magic an abomination of God"
"lead others to think it's real"
Make up your mind. Something not real can't be an abomination.

It's a fictional story. I guess if you believe it's real, then yeah, it's real. Does it matter in the grand scheme of things. Some people consider the miracles Jesus did were magic. So, if that's the case, then would heaven and hell be the same thing? Jesus went to heaven, so you decide.

Why are people so quick to throw God in the mix of things that are so insignificant. It's a movie. It's supposed to entertain. That's it. Go volunteer somewhere to make the world a better place. Stop looking for reasons to shun people. If I remember correctly, judgement is God's responsibility.
