She may be playing, and trying to get you to play. When kittens want to play with each other, they'll do the "whap" and run by. Mine did that all the time... I'd be laying on the couch, and all of sudden he'd "whap" me in the face and run. He was saying "play with me!"

You know the expression "in your face". You may just be a little too close for her comfort. Maybe stop giving her kisses for a while. Don't stop talking to her, she will hear you even if she isn't quite so close.
Another thing to do is hiss at her if she slaps. That's what mother cats do to correct their kittens' behavior.

This is because cats like many animals regard direct, prolonged eye contact as an aggressive confrontation. If you are putting your face even closer to the cat and staring directly in the cats eyes you are displaying aggression towards the cat (not affection as most people think.) which will cause the cat to defend itself by swatting you in the face. It sounds like you need to learn a little more about cat body language and how to interpret its meaning. Go here to learn some cat body language...

cats are weird you know. Mine hides under furniture and jumps out only to slap someone who passes by(it doesn't hurt but it's freaking me out!).. I guess it's a game so if it annoys you get more toys for the cat. Check a pet shop!

Because cats aren't supposed to be up to your face! She's trying to tell you. She has instincts which tell her that what you are doing is a sign of hostility or play. In the wild, they'd do the same thing.

She may be playing or she may not like having her face so close to yours. If I were you, I think I'd keep my face out of hers for her comfort just in case that's the problem and also for my own safety...kitty scratches can be painful!

Kitties do that, she might not like you getting into her face. She might also think that you are playing with her. Discourage her from doing that by lightly tapping her on the nose and telling her NO

It is a defensive thing. Generally, cats don't like it when you get up in their face. My cat bites my nose if I get my face close to his.

I had a cat once that did that, if you laughed or talked to loud. Maybe she has extremely sensitive hearing
