The Adirondack State Park is the largest state park (in northeastern NYS). With 6 million acres, it occupies one-fifth of New York State. It is the largest state park in the United States, covering a land area about the size of Massachusetts,
Denali National Park (6 million acres) and Yellowstone National Park (2.2 million acres) are federal parks, and not state parks.

Ticks are HORRIBLE this year, especially in Central PA, where there also seems to a large number of Lyme's cases this year. The swimming probably didn't do much more than make them easier to find, which the bath would also do. TIcks are resilient little buggers, and give me the heebejeeebees. Its possible that your dogs managed to happen upon a group of hatching Ticks, and were unfortunately in the right place at the right time for the ticks point of view. I have a dachshund who is MISERABLE if he can't be in the woods a couple of times a week. So we frontline him and check him over real good after an outing, but to try and avoid ticks with him would be unfair to the dog. With such a large number of ticks in your area, I suggest getting the Lymes disease vaccination if you haven't already, its better to be safe than sorry, and if you camp and hunt with your dogs or travel with them its often reccomended. All of our pups have it, and thank goodness too!

We were at Floyd Bennett Field in Queens yesterday and I pulled about 20 off of my 5 month old wire dachsie. My adult male only had about 10. Keep in mind, it's been been a very wet spring and ticks love dampness and warmth. The swimming wouldn't have helped remove any ticks. I use the K9Advantix, I found that to be better when it comes to repeling and killing ticks.
