You need to use a full complement of strength building exercises in addition to working on crunches and situps. Also, minimize the use of animal fats, and pay special attention to foods which were produced with female hormones. All bodies need a certain amount of fat in their diet, but be careful as to which to use. Fish and legumes are excellent sources of protein, which is needed for muscular growth. Yes, some legumes have fat, but nuts, such as walnuts, almonds, pecans, etc., are very good sources of good fats.
Swimming is especially good for burning fat and increasing definition.
You may get a list of steroid precursors in your answer, so be careful.
PS to kiki: Yes, running is very good for burning fat, but I believe swimming is better for several reasons, if you have access to a swimming area. Swimming does not harm the joints, and the ambient water temperature differential relative to your surface body temperature.causes your body thermostat to turn up the fat burning metabolism.

I read an article in Men's Health magazine. The results have stuck with me for a long time. They had 3 people try to get the best abs in 6 weeks. They all used different means. One did crunches, the other lifted weights, and the other one did sprints. At the end of the experiment, the one who did sprints had won. The reason why is that fat hides your six-pack, and nothing burns fat better than running sprints.

Keep in mind that you gotta lose the layer of fat over the abs before anything will show. You can do all the crunches and sit-ups in the world and still have highly toned abs ... underneath a layer of fat.
