We so try to avoid doing or saying the wrong thing that we lose the fun in life, Is that what God intended? You can't go there or watch that movie....etc. Some churches are so dull, that's why no-one goes to them.

I am a Christian and proud of it. I am open-minded and this is why. I watch shows that certain denominations (not all denominations) consider bad. My children and I watch movies that they know that is all fake and can't ever happen, what matters is teaching your kids right from wrong in the topics of the movies and such. True Christians only avoid most places that deal with sexual immorality (which means is a sexual sin porn stores and such) Christians can go to bars as long as they don’t drink too much. (Drinking is not a sin, getting drunk is) Christians have fun just a different type. There are Christian surfers, Christian skateboarders, Christian bikers, Christian movies that are actually cool (The Omega Code, Megiddo: The Omega Code 2) we go fishing, hunting, swimming, youth center type of activities. We go to movies like Xmen and such. Not all movies are full of sin; we even play games like Sims and gun games and war games (doom) everquest. There isn't anything wrong with them unless you make them wrong. Its not worshiping idols it’s not putting them in front of their walk with Christ. It’s the way you teach why you do them and how you teach where things about them can be right or wrong. Many shows teach good and evil and that’s where the teaching comes in. also church can be fun too. I have been to one that had bounce toy activities, a dunk tank and a bull ride. They went rock climbing and fishing trips. Our music we sing is upbeat and in my opinion cooler than none Christian style, but we also like songs that are classifies as Christian, but positive all the same.

The biggest problem is when you classify things as Christian or not Christian is where the split happens. Where people become judgment about things. It’s the reason people fear to enter a church. Church can be a great place to go. The other thing is look into more than one denomination. Don’t choose by what you want to have the most fun at, but which church your heart feels right to you. The message from the teaching can help you there.

Open your heart and mind to him and let him enter. Hear his words for your understanding follow that heart within and you will find the path to take. Your walk for him is between you and Christ. People can tell you their opinions and teach what they say the scriptures teach, but you must read the scriptures on your own the whole scripture for many people understand the bible differently.

Having fun is not a sin, it how you have that fun that can make it a sin and its the sin that people judge what is right or wrong in the eyes of Christ.

Good luck and god bless.

Too narrow minded? I know I'm trying to stay on a narrow path.
I used to be a partier, etc. I've done many things before I became a Christian. I have no desire or temptation to go back to that way of living. My life is so much more fun when I stay out of the garbage of the world. I pity people that are out partying all the time. They're searching for something I already have. Been there done that. I wish I had access to things like this earlier in my life so I could have become a Christian sooner. It would have saved me a lot of heart ache. I loathe that heartache feeling. I haven't had it for about 6 years. Don't EVER want to go back to superficial relationships and my mind being controlled by chemicals & lust.
I don't avoid doing anything....I CHOOSE not to do that again...

Yeah, I think that can happen sometimes.
Jesus died so we can live life to the full, but if you really believe something will obstruct your relationship with God (be that a movie or whatever), would you want to do it anyway?
I don't think anybody gets it right all the time (except The Big Guy) so why be too fixed on what you believe? I try to do what I think is right at the time, but what I think is right now, next week I might have changed my mind on completely! Infact, in about five minutes I will probably have decided that I've given completely the wrong answer to this question!

My advice would be, be flexible (so you don't get narrow minded) and be willing to admit when you are wrong.
If you are trying to live your life for Jesus, that is the most important thing.

Well I am a christian and as human I struggle with this issue too. And it specially becomes harder and harder considering all the entertainment and all. But we have to remember that no matter what we do we won't ever be perfect while we're in this world. . whether we like it or not we're going to sin, it's our nature. Yet that's why we must stay focus to God and remember His coming. It says on his word to meditate always in him and through prayer do this, and so ask him to help you with these things. So that's why He says that we need to live in this world but not be part of it. I think what people need to do is get to really know Jesus, and the day you know Him well enough you will hate the things you did. And people need to stop looking at Him in as a dictator like most look at their parents, but as a friend that only wants the best for us. I'll just leave this message "All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weghted by the Lord. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. The Lord works out everything for his own ends- even the wicked for a day of disaster. The Lord detests all the proud of heart. ..through the fear of the Lord a man avoids evil." Prvb 16; 2-6 And heres another 1, "Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you judgment. So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless" Ecclesiastes 11; 9-10

Matthew 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
so if u live a life that is worldly then u r choosing the broad way;
i believe that u should not even think about it that way...and if some churches are dull u leave them and go to a church that can satisfy u, because have entered the next level in ur christan life

Living a life with God is suppose to change the person you were before you accepted His way. In changing, the wants we have in this world slowly begin to change as well. We can't live by standards set by Man, God has a way of leading you to one thing or away from another. Pressures from people who don't believe in God as you do, will try to tempt you into believing you are hiding in your faith if you avoid certain questionable activities or watching certain kinds of movies. I wouldn't consider that to mean we are narrow-minded, we just know that the road is narrow to Heaven, and those things that are truly expendable like going to a party where you know everybody is going to be hammered or watching sordid movies are things we could just as easily do without. Dipping your feet in a pool of temptations doesn't mean you've truly lived life to it's fullest.

i remember a minister saying to me once, a church is a sanctuary for sinners and not a synagogue for saints... So yes perhaps people are too narrow minded, sadly I lost my faith a long while back, but that does not mean I would do inappropriate things, so then perhaps some Christians could open their eyes a little, after all we cannot condemn what we do not know? this is not a criticism of any faith, hopefully just a thought full answer to your question.. before I get shot down in flames by others..

Dude, God wanted us to enjoy life. If you really read the Bible, you will see them having a good time all the time, sure some passages beat on you, but read some of the stories again and you will see that their was plenty of dancing and carrying on in that time. Many faiths fear that lifestyle or image because they themselves can not handle it....I am a christian and I love to go out, movies, bowling, hiking...I think God made us to enjoy th earth, not sit around in a room with the same 80 people from week to week...

It doesn't matter to me if the world judges me as dull, I do not need their approval of me, just God's. It's He who will say 'well done, good and faithful servant' when I get to the end of the race. The scripture God keeps giving me is Philippians 3:14, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. There is a reward waiting in heaven for those who aren't seduced by the way of the world. don't let Satan whisper temptation in your ear and rob you of your eternal reward. And remember too, there is a warning for those who cause Gods chosen to sin, and trying to justify your desire for wordly things by enticing other Christians to do the wrong thing is in that category.

Too many people in Christian churches get caught up in all the man-made rules and regulations such as not listening to a certain type of music, not seeing this movie, not reading this type of book, not doing this, not wearing that and so on and so forth. That's sad, because that is only the result of a holier-than-thou attitude. What matters is what is in your heart, and how you treat other people.
