We know that terrorists were granted amnesty under the 1986 program, something that should shock and anger all Americans. We also know that all 19 hijackers from September 11 took advantage of our legal system, staying here on expired or fraudulent visas to wage their war of terror. Of course, as the wife of an airline pilot, September 11 hit our family in a very personal way. I was amazed that on September 12, our borders were not secure, and here we are 5 years later with borders so porous that we now have the huge problem of 12-20 million illegal aliens in our country, many of whom came in since that fateful and dreadful day….not to mention the half a million known criminals already in this country, illegal aliens whose wherabouts, are not surprisingly, unknown. How can this be happening?

It is SUICIDAL to not secure our boders!!!! And ESPECIALLY after 9-11!!!! This is why i bombard our governor,senators and congressmen with phone calls telling them to SEAL OUR BORDERS and DEPORT all illegals!!!!!
And to the post above me, I TOO live on the border (i don't know where YOU live) but the borders are NOT secured ( they're better than they WERE,but still not secured)!!!! Illegals do NOT go through check points, but sneak across!!

Because Congress and the President are dragging their feet. Its mostly because if we shut the borders down (like we should and should have 5 years ago) the congress men loose their not-so-costly labor. Not to mention that the president is hoping that if he leaves the borders open and allows more illegals in and granting them amnesty he will have more popularity... which isn't happening.
And as for as the shock and appall and anger, believe me there is a bunch of that simmering inside of me.

I happen to live near the border, I am close enough to actually see it, let me assure you it is not unsecured. Every day there is an orderly admission of thousands of people including many thousands of Americans who live in Mexico. Everybody has his or her papers inspected, talks a little with a border guard, and get inspected if anything is found to be out of order. It is a very orderly process. I think a lot of hysteria is flying around about the borders, its just not real--believe me, I live close enough to know for a fact that it is under control.
