The standard is a shot of Tequila and a half shot of triple sec
fill with sweet and sour...over crushed ice or blended ice.
you can try lime juice instead or a lime slushee
....or a whole shot of triple sec....or both
I make mine with Bols Blue Curacao insted of triple sec.
Makes it BRIGHT blue.
White tequila (you're mixing it...it doesn't have to be great tequila)
Cuervo 1800 is "reposado" - it's meant to be sipped straight like Brandy don't waste that in a Margarita.
I blend it
salt the glass
add a lemon slice...the blue and yellow look nice.

If you have a good margarita recipe, you don’t require premium sipping tequila to make a killer margarita. WARNING: this recipe hides the taste of a lot of alcohol. These margaritas pack a punch.
Tequila is the heart of a good margarita. Use any tequila with 100% Blue Agave on the label. Jose Cuervo Gold doesn't work. A value brand that works fine is Puerto Vallarta Reposado.

Get a 64 oz container. Tupperware pitchers work well and have graduations.
Tequila – 16 ounces
Triple Sec – 8 ounces
Cranberry Juice – 8 ounces
Brandy – 6 ounces
Frozen Limeade – 1 can
Top off container with water
Slice limes and rim glass with salt. Add ice and pour in the margaritas. For a special treat, float the drink with a shot of Grand Mariner. Add a few people and you've got an instant party.

Casa Noble Tequila is my favorite...
"Casa Noble ultra premium tequilas begin as carefully selected individual 10 year old plants of Blue Agave. Each one must meet the strict requirements for water and sugar content. We slow-cook them for 38 hours in stone ovens.
Then, using only the core and hearts of the agaves, we extract their robust juice. The fermentation process is 100% natural, followed by a triple distillation. The result is a tequila so pure and full of agave flavor that it has elevated the concept of tequila to new levels around the world.
Casa Noble Tequila Produced and Bottled in Mexico. 40% Alc/Vol (80 Proof). 100% Blue Agave."
Here are some options of Margaritas that I like

2 rules here to follow, jose cuervo-NOT!!! and it should always be a white tequila. Aged tequilas will have a heavy taste due to the fact they are aged in oak which will not be pleasant for a clean, crisp tasting margarita. Some good brands are don julio blanco, centenario plata, herradura blanco, maestro tequilero blanco. The last one is my favorite.

Jose Cuervo 1800 Silver, chilled. Fresh lime juice, TripleSec, perhaps a shot of Grand Marnier if you're so inclined. You also need coarse salt for your glass and a blender if you want them frozen.

well, there is a name for it, it is called a golden margarita. Equal parts of cuervo gold, cuantro, and grand marnier, 3 parts sour mix, either shake or blend with ice and serve with salted rim and lime garnish.
