My language arts teacher assigned extra credit and she wont tell us what its called until one of us figures it out on our own can someone help me and no i dont want the answer graduation cap or graduation hat so if your going to be smart and say that daont waste your time! well if someone can help me thank you soooooo much!

Sometimes called "caps" (as in cap and gown), they are also called "mortar boards," I think because they look similar to the pieces of wood that masonry contractors use to hold wet mortar (cement) when building brick walls, etc.

I think they're called mortar boards. But I could be wrong. You better check around.
