I know it means "girl" but.... I was talking to this guy via email and he was calling me "chica" a couple times.. My boyfriend thinks it means "sexy girl" or something..or it means that they're hitting on me... And he's uncomfortable about it... I just don't take it that way.. So I was just wondering.

Were is that guy from?? Is he cuban?? Cuban people (and also other people from the caribean) uses the word "chica" a lot, like americans use guys(both boys and girls for ex. How are you guys?)
"Chica" also means "small", but nop, "chica doesn't mean sexy girl at all.

chica means girl sexy is spelled and said the same way in english and spanish so if he didnt call you sexy chica or chica sexy then he only called you a girl and thats it.

"Chica" literally means small. He is probably just affectionately using the diminutive for 'girl.' It is not disrespectful. I wouldn't read too much into it.

It may change meaning in some Latin American countries, I'm not 100% sure, but in Spain it simply means "girl".

haha when a guy calls you chica, it sounds a LITTLE like he is gay... can you imagine a straight guy calling you chica? it sounds a little off
