Well, I wouldn't recomend it. Cats get carsick alot, and would meow the whole way there. If it was short dinstance, about an hour or so, you'd be okay. Absolutley NO flying is recomended. Besides, many hotels don't allow cats anyway. You're safer sending your cat with realitives.
If you do take it with, be sure to bring your cat diaper bag: Litter, cat food, and a litterpan - things the cat will be familer with. Make sure your cat doesn't get away, so bring a cat kennel. I know this sounds harsh but you'll need it.

Generally, the cat won't like it but sometimes you can get lucky.
A friend of mine takes his cat from LA to San Francisco every year for the Christmas/New Year period. It just sleeps on the floor in the passenger side of the car.
When I was young, a friends family took their cat on holiday all the time. They would stop, it would get out and do its business and get back in the car.
However, these are rare cases and I would say if you want to keep your cat, keep it at home.

Leave the cat home -- IF there is someone who can take care of the cat while you're gone.

No. No matter how much you love your cat, your cat won't enjoy it. Cats are on a permanent vacation and don't need to leave home.

It depends on the place you are gonna go. Not to far or the cat will go nutty. So if it's far no way but close okay.

Are we talking road trip or flying? It really depends on your cat. I think you should ask him.
